One of my favorite movies is the 1956 science-fiction classic “Forbidden Planet.”

In the 23rd century, a spaceship from Earth called the C-57D is sent to the faraway planet Altair IV to check on the status of a human colony sent there two decades earlier. The C-57D’s crew discovers that all the Altair IV settlers are dead except for a scientist named Dr. Morbius and his beautiful 19-year-old daughter, Altaira.  

When the C-57D’s crew, led by Commander John J. Adams (played by a young Leslie Nielsen) tries to get Dr. Morbius to return to Earth, they are torn limb from limb by an invisible monster. As it turns out, Dr. Morbius had discovered and mind melded with a machine left behind by Altair IV’s former inhabitants, the Krell.
